Transformation from Shy to Confident Leader
In this talk, Ermi will share her story, practical tips and mindset training on how she transformed from being shy, practising mindset training, and developing the confidence to eventually becoming a strong communicator and leader - tips everyone can use to thrive in every area of their life.
Ermi is a passionate design leader and mentor in many global design communities, including ADPLIST, IxDA and Project F (a mentor program that focuses on women in tech). With 20 years of experience working at agencies, in-house, freelance and startups, she gives designers career advice on how to establish and lead a new UX design team. She shows that introverted leaders can thrive in extroverted environments. Ermi's most passionate about empowering more women to become leaders and specialises in empowering designers with EQ skills like confidence, communication and persuasiveness in successfully negotiating your salary.

Demystifying design leadership
Have you ever wondered what life is like as a design leader, especially in a fast-moving, scale-up environment? From juniors just starting out in product design to seniors wishing to venture into design leadership, this talk is for you! As the Head of Design of one of the world’s most popular performance data systems, Tina will be pulling back the curtains and sharing honestly about the triumphs and tribulations of design leadership. Tina started out as the first product designer six years ago and has since grown the design team and transformed the value of design at Smartabase, working alongside the biggest names in the elite performance industry.
A reflection on self-confidence and overcoming Imposter Syndrome, this talk is for anyone who's ever been curious about the opportunities, challenges and struggles of a design leader.
Tina is an enthusiastic and experienced design leader in the world of high-performance tech. Smartabase houses millions of data points for the most elite humans on earth (and in space). Its notable clients include teams from the NBA, NRL, AFL, UFC, NHL, MLB, global Olympic committees, a space agency, national sporting institutes, various militaries and special forces to name a few.
